Board hoping voters will pass renewal levies
The Manchester Local Schools Board of Education asked voters to support the two renewal levies on the May 5 Primary/Special Election ballot. "They are not tax increases; they are renewals," said Superintendent James Robinson during the April 21 meeting.

Manchester BOE OKs purchase of buses
Manchester Local Schools students will be riding on two new school buses in the fall, and Manchester Board of Education members authorized the purchase of two more buses in 2016. At the board meeting May 19, members approved the purchase of a 2015 diesel-powered 77-passenger bus costing $87,175 and a 2015 diesel-powered 47-passenger special needs bus.

An altercation in the drive-thru line at the Wendy's on state Route 41 ended up with a gun being pulled. What West Union Police Chief Roy Stricklett called an "ongoing feud for years" boiled over when John Bays, 51 of Manchester was ordering food at the drive-thru speaker and Andrew Bear, 61 of West Union came up to him shouting obscenities at the driver.
Man accused of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today the arrest of an Adams County man on a felony charge of pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor. Stephen Lykins, 57, of Manchester, was arrested this afternoon by agents with the Attorney General's Crimes Against Children Unit.

Manchester considering offer from OSFC for new schools
Manchester Local Schools has been given another opportunity to work with the Ohio School Facilities Commission to construct two new schools and renovate a third building. At the Manchester Board of Education meeting July 21, district officials discussed the possibility the state would pay 36 percent of the funds to build and renovate the three buildings.

Tolle murder trial begins
A seven man, five woman jury with one alternate, was seated Monday in Adams County Common Pleas Court in the murder trial of Roddy Shane Tolle, 43, Judge Brett Spencer presiding. Tolle has pleaded not guilty to the shooting death of Charles "Duke" Brewer, 60, on June 27, 2014, at Brewer's residence on Island Creek Road in Monroe Township.
